About Me

Hi! My name is David. I am currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2021.

I have experience in web development including languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP.  I also have experience with some more backend-oriented languages including Java and C, as well as database/sql work, including MySQL and SQLite.  I have built a few personal projects as well as worked on projects for other individuals and businesses. Much of the web development-related work in my portfolio is built on the WordPress platform but I have experience with other platforms such as XenForo and front-end frameworks like Bootstrap.

I got started with programming when I was 12 years old after my dad gave me his old laptop running Windows XP.  Like many kids, I found YouTube and was hooked on all of the different and crazy videos published at the time.  This is really what sparked my interest with computers and programming as I began to wonder how a simple video sharing platform could even exist and how someone goes about building something so cool.  I began to watch many videos on how to build my own website and by age 13 had my first website online.

In my free time, I am always exploring new programming concepts and trying out new ways to do things. I also love anything and everything about the outdoors whether it be camping and kayaking in the summer with friends and family or out on the slopes with my snowboard during the winter.

I am also a huge car enthusiast.  If I am not at my computer or enjoying the outdoors, you will probably catch me in the garage.  I love setting personal goals and in 2017, I achieved a larger goal of mine by purchasing one of my first dream cars, a Subaru BRZ.  Attending local and regional car meets is a very enjoyable time for me and I love meeting new people who share similar passions.

Likewise, I really enjoy photography within the car scene.  While I don't consider myself a professional by any means, my Instagram contains some of my photography work.

My career goals are quite simple.  While something programming-related is in mind, my main focus is being able to help people.  Whether it be continuing to help businesses with their web presence and bringing in new customers, updating old themes and software, or developing an application that improves efficiency, as long as it is helping someone, somewhere, the work will be fulfilling.

My goal is to align myself with an organization that allows me to continue helping people but also embraces creativity and new ideas.  When it comes to work, I always put my best foot forward.

Now that you know a little bit about me, head on over to my portfolio page and check out some of the cool projects I've had the opportunity to work on!
